St. Petersburg is included in tax free system before the 2018 FIFA World Cup

Starting from April, 10 international tourists will be able to do tax-free shopping in four Russian cities, where 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Krasnogorsk). The innovation will bring visible benefits to soccer fans coming to Russia for the World Cup: tourists get VAT refunds, saving 18%.

According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov, the tax free service works as pilot project in Russia at present. He explained that the outlets included in the system will be ussuing vouchers for VAT refunding. The representative of the Ministry added that there are plans to include other World Cup cities in Russia in the tax free system.

The World Cup will take place from June, 14 to July, 15 in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don.
