Hermitage Rossi (Eastern wing of the General Staff building)


State Hermitage collection of art of XIX-XX centuries is presented in the Eastern wing of General Staff Building. Main exhibitions were opened after restoration and reconstruction of the building at the end of 2014. The great classicist monument was designed by architect K. Rossi for two institutions of tsarist Russia –Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Finances. Exhibition “Realms of the Eagle. The Art of Empire” is opened in the former official apartment of Chancellor K. Nesselrode. Visitors are welcome to explore Gallery of West-European art of the XIX century, “Sergey Shchukin and the Morozov Brothers Memorial Gallery” with works from Monet to Picasso and Matisse on display, as well as many other permanent and temporary expositions including contemporary art shows.
