Gatchina Palace & Park


Gatchina Palace and Estate Museum is located 45 km to the south-west of St.Petersburg.

Valuable collections of painting, furniture, porcelain, antique weapon as well as Gobelin tapestries, embroideries and Italian sculpture give the visitor a vivid impression of the royal court life. At the same time the darkness and dampness of the mysterious underpass will let you feel the romance of this Russian castle.


St Petersburg Card provides free entrance to Gatchina Palace including Signal tower and the underpass.

Gatchina palace is open according to the scedule (see «Open hours»), and additionally on

  • February 22-24,
  • March 7-9, 23,
  • May 1-5, 9-11, 18, 25,
  • June 12 till 19.00,
  • Ovtober 26,
  • November 2,
  • December 31 from 10.00 to 15.30 (tickets till 14.30).

The palace is closed on cleaning days on February 4, March 3, April 7, May 6, Junenbsp;8, July 6, August 3, September 1, October 6, November 3, December 1

Signal tower is open from May 1 to October 4

Paul I and Suvorov. An exhibition in Gatchina Palace

The exhibition tells about the complicatied relashionships between the emperor and the field marshal. Several museums participated in the expo: Gatchina, Suvorov museum, State Hermitage, Russian museum, Central naval museum and Artillery museum.
