Dostoevsky Museum

This museum is located in a simple flat of an ordinary Saint Petersburg building, which however became quite a popular spot. Dostoevsky rented the apartment twice: in 1846 and since 1878 until the last days of his life.

The memorial apartment contains a lot of original furniture and memorabilia related to his work, most notably — the study, where some of his famous writings were brought to life. From old photographs and down to the smallest household item — everything is reminiscent of the emotionally charged and slightly sinister atmosphere of Dostoevsky novels, offering a deep insight into human psychology.

Dostoevsky museum often features contemporary exhibits created in the same mystical spirit.

From August 1 to December 31, 2020 the museum will be closed for reconstruction. The works may start earlier, please, check the updates before your visit.
